Favourite tools or platforms

Adobe Illustrator

Adobe Illustrator

Sadly, the Adobe suite haha. My favourite Adobe tool is illustrator! I love how infinite the features it seems to have, and it feels like there are zero limitations to creativity. If you can think it, you can make it in illustrator.

Adobe Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop

I’m also a sucker for Photoshop, it’s developing AI technology is introducing some interesting stuff.

Womp 3D

Womp 3D

I’ve also been dipping my toes into 3D modelling now that the tools have gotten easier (and cheaper) to use. Womp 3D is blowing my mind with its adorable art style and goopiness, and Spline is very exciting for website interactivity.

How I stay updated

Like any Gen Z out there I spend a lot of time on Instagram and YouTube lol. I like to follow the accounts of the platforms I use (e.g. Adobe, Figma, Webflow, etc.) to see what new design features they’re implementing and what trends are being promoted.

I also follow many design and marketing agencies to see what their teams are working on, and on YouTube I watch many tutorials to learn new features and sharpen my design skills.

Make epic stuff, don’t be a jerk.

Favourite part about working at GummyBear

I love the in-house banter we through around at each other hahaha. Ripping each other and our designs to shreds really helps build character I think.

I also love how excited we get over new design trends and technology. We’re all constantly trying to improve and modernise our skill sets, and it makes working here exciting!

A ‘normal’ day at work

Get to work, make some cool stuff, make fun of Lucas, attempt coffee art, make some more cool stuff, head home for dinner.

An industry challenge you’d like to fix

Corporate minimalism and templates. You’re telling me that we’ve advanced technology to allow for millions of colour options, yet we’re only allowed to use two shades of blue? Not in my books!

More than making brands that “look clean and professional and like everyone else”, I want our industry to focus more on producing brands and websites that showcase personality; that showcase you!

Background info

I was born and raised in Ōtautahi Christchurch!

I’ve been a graphic designer since I was 15 years old, originally doing wee newspaper adverts and videos for a small company until I finished my design degree in 2022.

From there I’ve been fortunate to have a couple of different in-house design jobs, before finally ending up here!

This is my first time living in a different city, so I’m excited to be here

Don’t be shy giving me cool Dunedin/Southland adventure tips 😉

Off-work activities

Gaming, anime, drinking tea lol
