Anouska Jones

Project Manager

About Anouska

I’m a nomad who has lived in six countries but finally found her home in Dunedin, where I now live with my husband, daughter and dog. I am a mix of creative and analytical, and always curious. I am possibly part-Hobbit as I always need to know what my next meal will be!

Prior to working at GummyBear, I had a 30-year career in book publishing. So, while the move to a digital marketing environment has allowed me to use many of my existing skills, it’s also thrown up plenty of opportunities for my brain to work overtime as I learn new systems and processes.

How I stay updated

Favourite part about working at GummyBear

The team. Everyone at GummyBear cares deeply about what they do. They’re some of the smartest, funniest, most welcoming people I’ve ever worked with. It makes coming to the office every day an absolute pleasure.

A ‘normal’ day at work

There is no ‘normal’ day – and I like that! While I’m always working to keep projects on track, how that unfolds can look very different from day to day.

My favourite projects

I’m still at the beginning of my GummyBear journey, so I have no favourite projects yet, but I’m really enjoying learning more about our wide range of clients.

Background info

I have a degree in European languages, and a post-graduate degree in translation. That saw me enter the world of book publishing, initially as an editor but eventually as publisher, responsible for the development and production of literally thousands of books, ranging from cookery and gardening titles to self-help, autobiographies, and children’s picture books. (As a result, I have great general knowledge and make a useful addition to any trivia team!) With decades of project management experience, when the role at GummyBear became available, I jumped at the chance to use those skills in a new environment.

Words and languages are my happy place! If I’m not solving the daily Wordle, I’m ticking off another Norwegian lesson on Duolingo. (‘Why Norwegian?’ I hear you ask. Well, that’s what happens when you accept a challenge from your teenage daughter!) As a family, we take our Lego very seriously, and for exercise, I love yoga, walking and, in winter, curling.
